About this piece
"Well, fear is sort of an odd thing..."
Summary
Jack Shephard is a young doctor from Los Angeles who survives a plane crash in a mysterious island, together with other 48 people. After helping several injured survivors, Jack walks in a secluded spot with a sewing kit to deal with a nasty cut on his back. As he cannot reach his wound to stitch it, he asks a girl who happens to walk by, Kate Austen, to help him. She is terrified at first but with this monologue Jack tries to calm her down. He tells her how, when he performed his first solo procedure and accidentally ripped the dural sac of a patient, dealt with fear by letting it in, "let it do it's thing", but only for 5 seconds...
