About this piece
Allen tells his psychiatrist he is the most boring person in the world
Summary
There are various stories in this film, all presenting either abnormal relatiosnhips or perverted people. The main stories are about three sisters, Joy is a failed musician who lives alone, Trish is rich and has a successful psychiatrist husband, Bill Maplewood, who happens to be a pedophile, Helen is into S&M. The person delivering this monologue is Allen (Phillip Seymour Hoffman), who is Helen's neighbor. He is geeky, overweight and insecure and is obsessed with Helen, whom he calls anonymously on the phone to masturbate...here he is talking to his psychiatrist, Dr. Maplewood, who happens to be Trish's husband. In this monologue Allen explicitly tells Dr. Maplewood how he wants to have sex with Helen and rape her. Then tells him he could never actually do that or even talk to her as he considers himself extremely boring..
