Summary
Short cuts is a collection of stories set in Los Angeles. In this particular story Howard Finnigan and Ann Finnigan are in the hospital as their son Casey got run over by a car. Casey is asleep and getting checked out and his parents are waiting. Paul Finnigan, Howard's father, arrives to the hospital to meet them. Paul hasn't talked to Howard for many years. It seems as the main reason is that years back Howard got into an accident and went to the hospital and his father wasn't there.... In this monologue Paul explains to his son why he wasn't at the hospital when he got into the accident. Paul tells him how his mother told him to leave when she found him in bed with his sister Olla....
