About this piece

Jack's wife leaves him

Summary

The survivors of a plane crash are stranded in a mysterious, remote tropical island in the South Pacific. Among the survivors there is Jack, a doctor, Kate, a former prisoner, Charlie, a rock star, Sayid, an Iraqi military man, Locke, a mysterious man who used to be paralyzed before the crash but is miraculously cured after the crash and Claire, a pregnant Australian girl. In every episode we have flashbacks that focus on the backstory of each of the characters in the show. In episode 11 of the second season, "The Hunting Party", we follow Jack in a flashback as he tries to save the life of a patient who is being treated for a tumor. He develops a relationship with the patient's daughter and after her father dies, she kisses him and Jack kisses her back. This scene takes place when Jack comes back home to his wife after the operation. Their relationship is not working as Jack focuses all his energies into his work. Jack tells her what happened with the patient's daughter and, crying, promises that things will change in their marriage. Jack's wife, however, has already made up her mind. She tells him she has been seeing someone else and that has decided to leave him.
