Summary
The whole play takes place in a house in West London. The character delivering the monologue is Mick (late 20s), the younger brother of Aston (early 30s). Aston is a good natured guy who takes rescues an old tramp, Davies, from a bar fight and invites him to stay in his house which is badly kept and cluttered with old furniture. The next day Aston leaves the house and allows Davies to stay in his place while he is gone. As soon as Aston leaves Davies rummages through Aston's belongings but is interrupted by Mick who attacks him and overpowers him. In the first scene of ACT II, Mick, after enquiring about who he is and what he is doing in his apartment, he verbally attacks Davies, accusing him of being a robber and "stinking the place out". The monologue is also funny because at the same time Mick also does a sales pitch, trying to give Davies a deal on the place..
