About this piece
Simon Hench, in an overly articulate speech, tells his wife that Dave, their tenant, is moving out
Summary
The play revolves around Simon Hench, a British publisher who plans to spend an afternoon relaxing in his living room listening to classical music. He is however interrupted by Beth, his wife, his friends, his tenant Dave and aspiring writers. In this scene Simon is talking to his wife Beth, who is trying to talk to him about something she says is important. Simon is evasive and in this overly articulate speech he tries to avoid talking to her by telling her that their mysterious and evasive tenant, Dave, is moving out and they should consider replacing him with "a pair of respectably married and out of date homosexuals who still think they've got something to hide".
