About this piece

Mrs. de Winter opening voice over monologue

Summary

A shy ladies companion (Joan Fontaine) marries a wealthy man, Maxim de Winter (Lawrence Olivier) and the two move to Manderlay, his large country estate in Corwall. Mr. de Winter is still troubled by the death of his previous wife, Rebecca, who died in a boating accident. We soon find out that Rebecca still has a hold on everyone at Manderlay, including Mrs. Danvers, the creepy housekeeper. This is the opening voice over monologue where the second Mrs. de Winter remembers a dream that she had where she found herself back to Manderlay..
