About this piece
Bud Fox confronts his father about his refusal to make a deal with G. Gekko
Summary
Set in the mid-eighties, the film tells the story of a young and ambitious broker, Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen), who gets under the wing of one of the most successful and ruthless brokers in Wall Street, Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas). Pressure rises and the stakes are high and Bud Fox soon learns that to stay at the top he has to be prepared to do all it takes, even get inside information in any way he can. As their relationship gets stronger and Bud is able to finalize several successful deals for Gekko, Bud pitches an idea to him, that is to buy Bluestar Airlines, the company where his dad (Martin Sheen) works, and make the company grow. Bud invites his dad to a meeting with Gekko but Carl is not persuaded and sees through Gekko. In this scene Bud, after being embarrassed by his dad in front of Gekko, confronts him and asks him to help him go through with the deal. They argue but Carl refuses.
